THANK GOD! Oh JOY! No more black BARS on my screen when I'm trying to enjoy a MOVIE! Thank you, marketing geniuses, THANK YOU!

Ugh. I s'pose there are those folks out there who think letterbox is "annoying" and "stupid". To them I say, "GET A BIGGER TV, IDIOT!"

All clear. All here. All dry. The coast is sad, but we are ok.

So, now that Hurricane Isabel is headed this way (click the image above for the latest Raleigh weather), I guess the only thing we haven't had here in NC is an earthquake. We're watching the updates every few hours, and they've evacuated Ocracoke Island out on the coast, where we were a month ago. We bought extra water and canned goods, which seems like a good idea year 'round here. We don't have a generator, but hopefully it won't come to that, and we do have a fireplace for heat and a grill for cooking. Yes, the excitement never ends here in the NC.

FINALLY! All this blogging has paid off. Blogger was acquired by Google, and as such they are combining most of the Blogger Pro (paid) features into Blogger (free). Pro users will retain some extra features not available to free users, but there is no longer a fee, and they're sending Pro users a free blogger hooded sweatshirt (hoodie, for you streetwise folk). Now I can proudly wear my blogger hoodie, knowing that I helped support a tiny little venture that got bought out by a major player. But I like Google. Well, let's hope they don't crush blogger with love, like Microsoft has done to Bungie. Sniff.

Because I am not an idiot, I have installed OS 10.2.6 on my iBook. Because I am an idiot, I have deleted my email in the process. Sigh.

DHWE updates, now coming to you via an iMac (400MHz DV SE, OS Jaguar, DVD drive, firewire) that I rescued from the American Way Thrift store in Raleigh. It wouldn't boot reliably in the store, and they wanted $174.95 for it, so I bought it home and bought it a new hard drive and now it seems fine. I'm gonna GIG the RAM eventually, but all in all a worthwhile purchase, I think.

So, another month come and gone. What am I doing with my life? How can it be speeding along so quickly? Or maybe time flying is because I'm having so much fun. Things are good, but I'm not biding my time waiting for anything in particular to happen, which is probably why the time slips by so quickly.

Nothing drags on and on like the anticipation of the end, or a new beginning or the next big thing. I'm not really worried about any of those, so nothing is slowing me down in that way. I have my own things going on, and I didn't come to NC for any other reason than to be with Val, so I haven't got an agenda here. That was driving me a little crazy for a while, but now it's just a phase of life. A time that I'm doing what I'm doing until I start doing something else. I don't know what I'm doing now, I don't know what I'm doing next. And I like it that way.
